Newsletter - 3rd October 2008
Dear Parents/Carers
It just amazes me how quickly the term flies once we are back and working. The classes are all really busy working on their topics for this half term. All of the classes are using a book as a focus for their learning across the curriculum;
FOUNDATION: Nursery Rhymes
YEAR 1: Oliver’s Fruit & Oliver’s Vegetables
The children are learning about keeping healthy and making healthy food choices.
YEAR 2: Funny Bones
The children are learning about keeping healthy and their bodies
YEAR 3&4: The Terrible Tudors
The children are learning about life in the Tudor times, with a particular focus on the life and wives of Henry VIII
YEAR 5: Stories by Charles Dickens and Street Child
The children are learning about life in Victorian Britain, with a particular focus on the life of Victorian children.
YEAR 6: The Story of London
The children are learning about significant historical events which shaped the city and its geography.
The children are really enjoying their new creative curriculum and are working very hard. If you feel you have anything you could contribute to our learning this half term, please contact your child’s class teacher. We look forward to seeing you.
DESIGN TECHNOLOGY
Classes this year are being very creative with their design and technology projects.
In order to provide your children with as many opportunities as possible, we will need to order a wide variety of different materials.
Due to the increased cost and in order to provide as many different resources as possible we will be asking for a voluntary contribution of £1 after half term.
Please look out for the DT newsletter
Thanking you in advance
HARVEST FESTIVAL
9th October 2008
Harvest festival is approaching and we would like to ask for your generous contribution
towards our collection of food, once again.
This year we would like to donate to our local elderly community. If you would like to nominate someone for a gift of Harvest Food, please see Mrs Coker.
Late Arrivals
If your child is going to be late due to an appointment, we would ask that you let the office know in advance and bring your child in on their arrival.
